Our “Danish Imperials Series” is an ever expanding series of imperial strength beers, each honoring a different individual from Denmark’s long imperial history. “Dagmar of Bohemia” is named in honor of Margaret “Dagmar” of Bohemia, the Queen Consort of Denmark from 1186 to 1212. “Dagmar” is a Bohemian style Imperial Pilsner brewed with Saaz hops. It has a light amber hue and a pronounced malty backbone that provides a nice round mouthfeel.

Copenhagen 17/2 2019. 33cl bottle from Vinbørsen. A part of Fanø's Danish Imperial Series which seems to be dedicated to former Royal Dignitaries and a high alcohol percentage. A lot of Dagmar Crosses on the label.
Pours hazy, golden orange with medium-sized white head. Settles as frothy, white layer of foam clinging to the side of the glass. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is of fermented fruit, alcohol with a solid malty backbone. Sweet pale malts, light caramel sweetness. Strong presence of lightly metallic alcohol.
Medium strong carbonation. Medium thick, oily texture.
Flavor has a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong rough bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a lighter bitter undercurrent. Solid alcoholic after-burn.
What can I learn from this beer? ApparentlyThe Royal Establishment likes their beer boozy. And that goes for the pilsner as well.
