Enebær is Danish for Junipers It seems like junipers was the trend in Danish beers during the last two years.
The colour is deep amber with a tint of red; the liquid is hazy (bottle conditioned). The enormous foam slowly sinks down to an uneven finger thick layer, leaving lots of lacing.
The strong smell is very malty, a bit cask matured with some alcohol and gin-like spices, mostly junipers. There are notes of raisins and dried apricots.
The taste is also quite malty. There are some light spicy notes of junipers, but it is not as dominant as I had expected. The beer is rather strong on alcohol, together with the strong carbonation it kind of hides most or the flavours. I found some sour notes as well as some hints of wood. The aftertaste is alcoholic too, dry malty notes and a quickly passing bitterness.
The carbonation is very strong, medium sized bubbles. The liquid is a little watery.
I didnt really like this one. I had expected more of junipers and not that much alcohol.
