Løkken 3/7 2023. 50 cl bottle from Kvickly, Østergade, Middelfart. Black somber label with golden letters and ornaments.
Pours unclear maroon with a small off-white head. Bubbly. Disappears completely after a few seconds leaving a Long Island Ice Tea behind. No lacing.
Aroma is fairly intense with a sweet, sugary odor of malt mingling with sour grains and sweet liqueur. Caramel, toffee and a shitload of brown sugar, almond liqueur, nuts and wood saturated with alcohol. Sharp sour notes of grains.
Low carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, greasy, soft, almost flat texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a strong sweetness followed by a moderately strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a boozy tang lurking just underneath the sweetness. Lingering. Finish is sweet, boozy and a bit sticky.
An overwhelmingly sweet Barley Wine with a sharp tang.
