Bottle from 2010. Aged in the cellar.
A: Pours a thick dark brown to black liquid into the glass. A one finger high and brown head forms before it dissolves into about half the height.
S: Smoked ham at the first sniff. Cocoa, vanilla and oak. Smoked wood and burnt malts. Dark cacao.
T: Rather dry, some smoke and lots of burnt malts. Cocoa, vanilla and spicy hops. Fresh grinded coffee at the end.
M: It has a rather dry texture, medium carbonation and medium body.
O: A nice porter. It has some nice dry tones and a well balanced taste. But it lacks something to give it more than 3.5 as overall.

The colour is pitch black, the two finger head is pale brown. It is firm and sinks slowly leaving some lacing.
The smell is roasted ad sweet. Nuts. Madeira. Alcohol. Some smooth sour notes. It is fresh and quite strong.
The taste is dry with a distinct refreshing tart note. Robust roasted flavours. Sweet coffee. No noticeable alcohol. Some nuts. The mellow aftertaste is nutty and tart.
The carbonation is smooth, the bubbles small. The liquid is dry.
An elegant porter with distinct dry-tart notes. Both English, Baltic and American at the same time. I couldn’t find any of the smoke malt, though.

From 01/02/11 notes. Shared by CaptainCougar (RB) at a local tasting; thanks Tom! We tried Son of Nekron, Nekron, and Pride of Nekron in one tasting.
a - Pours a black color with less than one inch of tan head and high carb evident.
s - Smells of alcohol, roasted malts, and chocolate. Alcohol is very prominent and dominates the nose.
t - Tastes of roasted malts, chocolate, and alcohol. A step up from the nose.
m - Light to medium body and low carbonation.
d -Wasn't the biggest fan of this one. I thought it was too strong of alcohol in the nose and mouth. Also thought this was the worst of the three. Wouldn't seek out again.

A: Pours very dark, almost black. The compact head is thick and beautifully pale brown. Slow dissispation leaves rich lacings.
S: Roasted malt, a bit burnt in smoked. Rich chocoalte, but also cherries. Sweet. Bitter hops.
T: Roasted, and a bit smoked sweet malt. Chocolate and coffee. Bitter hops. Vanilla/oak. Some faint dark dried fruits.
M: Long and dry aftertaste. Body is dull and carbonation is moderate.
D: A really nice Porter, but as an English porter - way to smoky. Not a bad beer though.

50cl Bottle from System in Lund Sweden
A - Beautiful! Very dark indeed. Head is a nice chocolate color.
S - Smells of coffee, chocolate, smoke!!
T - Very smoky - maybe to a fault. The smoke pretty much overwhelms all of the other flavors. I do get a bit of sweetness and deeper flavors but they are hard to pick out.
M - Nice mouthfeel...not much to say here.
D - I would have struggled to drink more than one bottle.

The beer is dark brown, nearly black, the head is light brown, a bit uneven, settling slowly and leaving some lacing.
The smell is roasted dark bread, roasted ground coffee. Some sweet nuances, brown sugar sweet cake.
Upfront sweet, brown sugar, figs and dates, sherry and coffee liqueur, bitter beans.
Rather low carbonation, but small lively bubbles, a full body, oily but with a coarse dry end.
A really good porter, "damned good".

Sampled bottle, RBNAG 2007 in Grimstad, Norway. ABV was 6.5%. Black colour, moderate brown head. Very nice aroma and flavour of smoked and roasted malts, tar and liquorice. Slightly peaty, also notes of coffee. Bitter finish. I really liked this one!

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color porter with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of dry coffee and quality black chocolate is very nice. Taste is also dominated by some dry coffee (maybe even a touch too dry) with great notes of black chocolate. I can't say though that I tasted nay peats malt in this even though label mentions it. Body is about average with light creamy notes and good carbonation.
