A: Poured it into my Orval-chalice; Deep warm burgundy with a tall and rich creamy beige head. Slow dissipation leaves decent lacings.
S: Surprisingly mild; sour green apples and heavy maltyness. There's mild yeast and spice in the back.
T: Sour, and that is almost like an off-taste when it comes to this style. Balanced maltyness, syrupy-sweet. Lots of dark dried fruits.
M: Aftertaste is short, but man it's sweet. Body is full while carbonation is very modest.
O: Not bad, but not great. It holds the complexety worhty of a Dubbel, but it feels like everything is on the milder side of the scale, in comparison with a Westmalle Dubbel (the original Dubbel). Also I'm having problems with the sourness - would have been great in an Oud Bruin, but not in a Dubbel.
