Skovlyst Owl er en kaffestout, der brygges på det familieejede La Goudale-bryggeri. Øllet er så stærkt, at det smagsmæssigt næsten glider over i likørens verden med noter af portvin og Kahlua-likør.
I vores Vintage Selection-serie hylder vi skovens dyr, og for 2022 har vi valgt den smukke, og desværre alt for sjældne, ugle som navn og motiv. En ugle gør ikke meget opmærksom på sig selv, og det manifesterer sig i Owl med en blød bitterhed. Samtidig er uglen en stærk jager – et intenst rovdyr, som jager om natten.
Derfor står en intens kaffekarakter, skabt af Arabica-bønnen, frem i den bløde stout, der som natten, har en mørk karakter. Det har vi blandt andet opnået ved at bruge flere forskellige chokolademalte – og så har vi ellers fundet en spændende sammensætning af specialmalte, byg og hvede.

Copenhagen 1/1 2022. 75 cl corked bottle from Føtex, Mimersgade, Kbh. N. The annual issuance in Skovlyst' Vintage Selection series. Comes in a cardboard box and tries to look exclusive with a lot of gold on a black matte bottle. Poster animal of the year is an Owl.
Pours opaque, dark brown with a big light beige head. Stable. Settles as thin but consistent layer of foam just covering the surface of the beer. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet, malty, roasted odor mingling with an earthy, dark scent. Dark roasted malt, coffee with a touch of brown sugar. A bit of tobacco and leather.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, soft, smooth, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is fairly intense with a strong sweetness followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a sweet undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is semi-dry and a tad boozy.
One of the better brews from Skovlyst's Vintage Selection series. Hides the considerable ABV pretty well and feels pretty light for an Imperial Stout.
