Skovlyst Barley Wine was originally launched in 2016, and here is a relaunch of this wonderful tasting experience. The beer combines strength with a wide range of flavors and nuances. In this way, it approaches the world of wine in both complexity, taste and aroma. However, it is still a beer with all the beauties of beer. The lovely bitterness from the hops, the pleasant, malty sweetness and of course the refreshing bubbles that beer connoisseurs particularly appreciate.

Copenhagen 17/9 2016. 75 cl bottle from Føtex, Mimersgade, Kbh. NV. Black matte bottle with a black label with a golden stag with fairly big antlers. All very black and golden and supposed to look elegant and expensive. Reminds me of something that you would pay 500 euros for at a strip bar and feel appropriately disappointed about. Instructions on separate label that this should be consumed in a cognac or wine glass. I could only find a wide glass I use for shrimp cocktails. Feel quite fancy at this point.
Pours clear dark reddish brown with a small white head. Bubbly. Disappears fairly fast leaving only a thin rim of foam running along the side of the glass. No lacing.
Aroma is of dark roasted malts, dark fermented fruit and quite sugary by the way. A clear presence of alcohol.
Light carbonation and surprisingly thin palate. Almost flat texture.
Flavor is heavily sweet followed by a medium strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet and infused with alcohol.
The design is quite preposterous and the taste a tad to sweet for my taste buds. But they get points for the over the top bottle and presentation.
