473 ml can served cold into a chalice. LCBO purchase for $3.25 CDN or so. Canned November 6, 2020. Appears to be out of retirement for the time being.
Appearance - Virtually black beer topped with a finger plus of light tan head. Pretty good staying power and some sparse lacing.
Smell - Roasty malts mostly, hints of chocolate, coffee and dark fruits, but mostly roasted grain.
Taste - Fairly roasty with roasted grain and suggestions of chocolate. Not much in the way of coffee other than general roasted flavors. A touch sweeter initially than expected but finishes reasonably bitter.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, carbonation is just under average and finishes quite dry, close to but not quite chalky.
Overall - Midnight on the Grand isn't a stand out my any means but is a well put together and pretty tasty Schwarzbier, certainly worth trying and a well done version of a style that isn't seen frequently in these parts.

Pours black like a stout. Large fluffy head. Looks like a stout and even tastes like a lighter stout. Smell is a tad metallic and alcoholly.
