330ml bottle poured into a pint glass.
Black as night in color with thick frothy tan head with very good retention, it slowly subsides to an everlasting thin layer of foamy sheet atop along with plenty of sticky lacing patch and spot along the way down.
Roasted and bready to slight caramel from malt, pine, citrus, grapefruit, a bit spice, and mango from hop.
Pretty good combination between malt and hop, malt with notes of slight sweet bread, caramel, roasted, and astringency while hop with notes of pine, citrus, grapefruit, and some spice like its aroma. Moderate bitterness is at the end and nicely lingers as the aftertaste.
Light body with semi-smooth mouthfeel and lively crisp carbonation generated refreshing feel through the palate, finish is pleasantly dry.
Easy drinkable Black IPA, it tends to be more pronounced on hop while malt is just supplementary with a prominent roasted character. Anyway, I don’t feel much of chocolate or coffee, just purely roasted and slight astringency.

Dark brown, almost black with a hint of ruby when held to the light. Topped with 5 fingers of light beige head, holding good retention.
Fruity, sweet scent with hints of pine and cocoa dust.
Cocoa and fruity , hints of black liquorice, and a touch of pine.
Medium, slightly oily body, light carbonation.
Overall, a decent brew for the style. Got it on wish beer, drank in CNX Aug 16, 2016. Not overly powerful, nor is it rocking my world, but its good.

Pours a off black colour with beige head and good lacing. Aromas of pine, melon, citrus & hops. Tastes of pine, melon, citrus as well of hints of roasted nuts & malt. The taste is on the dry side & is medium bodied. Aftertaste is of a roasted nuts bitterness.

From XXXII. In Teku glass. Playig South Park Stick Of Truth. Not much of black roasty profile here, only something slightly, and a pleasant hoppyness. More body than in the prototype black IPA

Black color with big, fluffy, tan head. Aroma is really hoppy with some dank, herbal notes but also orange and tangerine. Some dark malts and caramel are also present in the background. Taste starts hoppy up-front with some herbal / resiny flavors, follows with roasted malt and a hint of coffee, finishes bitter and hoppy with lingering earthy notes. Body is on the lighter side, well carbonated and really easy to drink. Overall it's a really easy drinking and tasty BIPA, especially for the low ABV.

Purple-black with creamy sandstone head. 4
Mint + lemon with some ash underneath. 4
Slight fruitcake, some licorice, then lime, pine needle, and mild guava. 3.5
Light more than med, thin, slight cling, some oil. 3.5
Simcoe, Amarillo, Citra
Funny thing about CDAs: I don’t really want one at session-strength - a big style needs a big beer. Thus, this is watery, underhopped, and not roasty enough. An uneasy 5.3% for a style that should be 4% (i.e. a hoppy mild) or 6% (i.e. a hoppy porter.) 3.75

A 330ml bottle with a best before date of 7th January 2017 and poured into an oversized wine glass.
Appearance: It poured a dark dark brown colour with a less than one finger tanned head that had poor retention but left some spotty lacing.
Aroma: Fruit strong, citrus, grapefruit, pineapple and pine. In the background there is roasty malts and a hint of coffee.
Taste: Bitter grapefruit pith and its not very juicy. There is some roastiness in the background, but its not really there.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with light carbonation.
Overall: Seemed to be closer to an IPA instead of a Black IPA. Would have preferred to have more roastiness as this had very little. This was just ok.
