Single hop awesomeness, shining a spotlight on our favourite ingredient, the not so humble hop. Ace of Simcoe has the ultimate poker face - this session IPA is low in strength but has an ace in the hole - devastating hoppy aroma & flavour. This session IPA has been bombarded with Simcoe. Mango, pine, and grapefruit explode from the glass, firing off from a light, complex toasty malt base. Low voltage, high amplitude hops, in their purest form.

Slightly hazy golden color with off-white head. Aroma has lots of dank hops with cat pee, spruce and resin flavors. Taste starts also hoppy and dank with spruce and pine throughout the middle taste, finish is just slightly bitter but dry. Light body with medium carbonation. Overall this one is right up my alley. Lots of coniferous flavors and really easy drinking.

Pocked white over hazy blonde. 3.75
Pine and passionfruit, sure ‘nuff. 3.75
Thread of toffee biscuit, then light white pine, tangerine, and tropical fruit. 4
Light, salty, bitter. 3.75
IBU hit and nice clean display of Simcoe character. But watery for the strength. Maybe you’re better off boosting the malts like an English blonde (i.e. Jarl) then trying to single hop a session IPA. 3.75

From XXXII. In Teku glass. Playing Castle of Illusion. A single hop ipa of one of my favourite hops cant fail me, and if it also has a low ABV its a plus

Pint on-tap at Brewdog DogHouse, Glasgow (£4.20):
A very nice Brewdog offering, particularly for session IPA (I'd rather a non-session IPA) but this one was nice & thankfully not one-dimensional either which was always a worry for a single hop beer. The highlight for me was the combination of pine & grapefruit bitterness seeming working well with the faintly sweet malts & touches of citrus & this is an offering that I would have again.
