L: Hazy red color, quarter finger white head, no lacing whatsoever, minimal carbonation.

S: Raspberry, hops. Really nice!

T: Fruity, juicy, sour. A bit malty. Very interesting.

F: Light bodied, very refreshing. This could be a must-have summer drink.

O: Very unique beer. I liked it.

CAN
Luminous fuchsia with fleeing pink foam that trails. 3.75
Dank hops that shifts to red berry as it opens. 4
Thread of cracker, some raspberry skin tartness, then orange, cantaloupe, and resin. 3.75
Medium, salty, clean. 4

Not a sour, not an IPA. Lactose goes missing, except maybe where the juice would’ve made this thin + sharp. Never would’ve thought raspberry smoothie if it didn’t say it on the can. Getting kinda tired of these collab concept beers. 3.75

330ml can into an Omnipollo branded shaker. Paid £4.20 for a single.

Pours a bright, translucent, pinkish red body, with a small amount of sluggish carbonation visible near the edges of the glass. A thin, foamy, one-finger in height, pink-tinged white head slowly reduces to a patchy film and collar, leaving behind small clumps of soapy lace.

Bold, tart, juicy raspberries initially comprise the majority of the fruity nose. Lesser notes of pine, lemony citrus and gooseberry follow, while hints of tangy malted wheat, semi-sweet grains and some faintly lactic characters become perceptible towards the back end. Taste roughly follows suit, but with less pronounced sourness overall. Tart raspberry fruitiness dominates the majority of the palate. Traces of lemon flesh, pith and rinds are noticeable to a lesser extent, while unripe gooseberry adds to the slightly sharp and acidic flavour profile. Mid palate, hints of a very faint malt backbone are revealed, providing brief sweetness as tart raspberry begins to slightly recede. In the mouth, a light body and slightly aggressive carbonation are a little too thin and fizzy. Granted, the feel is crisp and refreshing, but far from the promised “Style-Busting Raspberry Smoothie Creaminess” Towards the back end, juicy citric profiles transition to a waxy, floral, preserved lemon-like character, that delivers mild bitterness, but is mainly overshadowed by lingering tart fruit.

Overall this is a decent, but one-dimensional beer. It’s easy drinking, refreshing and full of tart raspberry flavour, but doesn’t resemble either fruit smoothie or IPA. Oats, lactose and vanilla are present only on the ingredients list, while the complimentary fruity notes Mosaic hopping should have provided also fail to make an impact on the palate. Despite being an interesting take on the style, it isn’t worth seeking out specifically to try. Omnipollo’s solo brewed Magic #3 - Protein Shake IIPA is a far better example of a quirky, thick-bodied, ‘Smoothie’ styled IPA.
