From the growler via Jungle Jim's Eastgate in a snifter. This
solid little brew pours a dark brownish black with thin cola
highlights and a thick ring of off white foam that settles to
a thick ring, thin light pooling layer, and shows light lacing.
Nose of coffee, chocolate, char, subtle cream, and mild
dark fruit notes. Flavors surpass the nose with a semi-sweet
bakers cocoa dashed over dark coffee and char notes with
sweet cream and featuring some dark berry notes of blackberry
and plum. Very nice mouth feel for the style; medium full body,
lightly slick, smooth, low carbonation, and a rich roast and char
touched malt and cream finish.

Another fine brew from the BrewDog folk.

Cheers

A 330ml can with a BB of March 2018. Acquired a while back from the Brewdog webshop. The label calls it a milk coffee chocolate vanilla oatmeal stout - and a hefty one at that.

A: Poured into a tulip. A very dark chestnut-brown that appears pitch black in the glass. Yields a large head of creamy tan foam that lasts for a minute or two before reducing to a patchy surface layer.

S: Aroma of rich roasted malt with hints of coffee, burnt grain, molasses, lactose, subtle cocoa, mild vanilla, ale yeast and subtle earthiness. Indulgent and well-rounded; very nice.

T: Tastes of sweet dark malt with notes of roasted grain, coffee, molasses, lactose, caramel, mild cocoa, a twinge of vanilla, ale yeast and faint earthiness. Pretty sweet, followed by a robust malt-driven bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly with soft carbonation and a creamy, unctuous body that envelops the palate. Aftertaste of sweet dark malt, lactose, molasses, roasted grain, coffee, mild cocoa and ale yeast.

O: Excellent - rich, dark and complex. Looks the part; if only the head lasted a bit longer. Aroma and flavour are superb with sweet notes and roasted malt/coffee dominating the character. Lovely body. A delight for the senses and a must-try for lovers of dark beer or milk stout.

330ml Can from Brewdog BottleDog, Glasgow (£3.56):
A perfect start after I poured it where it looked fantastic sitting in the glass; the nose however was a very slight let down given that it wasn't quite as strong as I'd been expecting but it was still a pleasant enough beer aroma-wise. Things were turned around completely with the taste & the beer started to come into its own with an early roasted bitterness that quickly lead to an abundance of sweetness that really made the beer; a combination of chocolate malts, lactose & vanilla with some caramel thrown in for good measure all worked well together.

330ml can poured into a snifter.

It is generally black with slight deep brown shade. The pour builds up very thick fluffy tan head that withstands with very good retention before slowly subsiding to an eternal froth on the surface and leaving lots of lacing on the glass-side.

The aroma is rich and sweet of vanilla and lactose along the way. Cocoa, chocolate, espresso with some sourness, roasted, spice, dark bread, oat, syrup, smoked, and a hint of dark fruit as well as alcohol, it is overall deep and aromatic aroma.

Very sweet flavor in the lead and domination deriving from the addition of vanilla and lactose, then it reflects the notes of cocoa, chocolate, espresso with some sourness, roasted, spice, dark bread, oat smoothness and sweetness, syrup, smoked, and a hint of dark fruit. Alcohol is slightly disclosed with subtle warming touch. There is also some bitter kick mostly from roasted malt and partially from hop.

Medium body with smooth mouthfeel and rather low to moderate carbonation through the palate, the feeling is well-rounded with the proper amount of crispness to carry all the things well. Finish is very dry.

This one is great big sweet Stout that is perfect for the evening or as a dessert before closing. Yes, it is very sweet but it is not that cloying or too syrupy. A truly good offering from Brewdog.

CAN
Pocked tan tower over ruby-black. 4
HB sliceable litre, stale cheap coffee, and woody undertone. 3.5
Chocolate, ice cream, fig and licorice undertones, stale coffee, + overly slick vanilla. 3.75
Bitter coffee bean comeback.
Medium+, creamy, round, low carb. 3.75

Coffee, lactose, cocoa, vanilla, oats.

OK, just stop adding all the things. Lactose + vanilla together never seems to work - sickly smooth and artificial. Coffee is buried, cocoa absent - even on the sips it does coalesce, it’s just too sweet. Where’s the roast and the hops?

Messy disappointment. 3.75

L: Jet black color, three finger brown head, great lacing, no visible carbonation.

S: Sweet, vanilla, oats, chocolate, coffee, alcohol. Really nice!

T: Sweet, vanilla, oats, chocolate, coffee, alcohol. Superb!

F: Thick, creamy, dense, full bodied. Amazing!

O: Brewdog has done it again. World-class beer, no doubt. A must-have.

Pours a black colour with a two fingers beige head. Long retention, fades to thin layer always on top. Good lace. Arome of cocoa, vanilla, dark fruits, some coffee. Creamy palate medium body, carbonation is OK. Taste of coffee, chocolate, liquorice, dark fruits. Great and easy to drink.

330ml can pour into tulip.

Found this in the fridge of my local bottle shop and purchased on a whim. A very, very good expression of a coffee/milk/oatmeal stout. Nothing overwhelming, endlessly drinkable for the ABV. Shame this is a limited run; I'd happily have this in my fridge as a go to. Will buy a lot more while it's still available. Cheers!
