A 330ml bottle with a BB of Feb 2018. Acquired recently from the Brewdog webshop. A double IPA hopped with Columbus, Simcoe, Mosaic, Citra and Amarillo.
A: Poured into an IPA glass. A rich amber hue with good carbonation and chunky floating sediment that looks like coagulated protein. Produces a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before reducing to a patchy surface layer. Slight lacing.
S: Aroma of overwhelmingly fruity hops with hints of grapefruit, citrus, peel, tropical fruit, mild stone fruit, berries, hay, caramel malt, ale yeast and just a touch of booze. Superb.
T: Tastes of insanely aromatic hops with notes of grapefruit, citrus zest, peel, tropical fruit, stone fruit, mild melon, berries, hay, leafiness, caramel malt, ale yeast and a hint of alcoholic warmth in the background. Slightly sweet, followed by a powerful hop-driven bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with decent carbonation and good body. Quite astringent - hop oils strip the palate. Aftertaste of intense hop bitterness, fruity aromatic hops, citrus, ale yeast and caramel malt.
O: Excellent - an extremely hoppy double IPA that nonetheless comes across as well balanced. Looks good, while the aroma and flavour are simply incredible. An all-you-can-eat buffet of fruity hops. Nice body; smooth and creamy but not too thick. A hop-lover's delight. Worth trying if you have the chance.
