A 330ml bottle with a BB of Feb 2018. Acquired a little while back from the Brewdog webshop. Described on the label as a prototype session IPA brewed with tangerines and hopped with Columbus, Chinook, Mosaic and Simcoe.
A: Poured into an IPA glass. A rich orange-amber hue with good carbonation and plentiful suspended sediment that looks like coagulated protein. Yields a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding to a patchy surface layer. Some lacing.
S; Aroma of intense tangerine zest with hints of perfumed citrus, marmalade, pineapple, mango, tropical fruit, mild caramel malt and subtle earthy yeast. Simply superb.
T: Tastes of powerful aromatic hops with notes of tangerine zest, grapefruit, citrus, peel, pineapple, tropical fruit, mild pine, caramel malt, earthy yeast and stewed hops. Quite dry, followed by a robust hop-driven bitterness upon swallowing.
M: Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, with spritzy carbonation and decent body for the strength. Perhaps just a shade on the thin side. Aftertaste of tangerine, aromatic citrus, tropical fruit, hop bitterness, caramel malt and earthy yeast.
O: Excellent - another solid effort from Brewdog. Looks alright, while the aroma and flavour are a delicious blend of aromatic citrus, fruity hops, subtle malt and earthy yeast. Nice body. The combination of citrus fruit and citrus-forward hops may not be new, but this is a masterful creation. Well worth sampling if you can get your mitts on it.
