Black color. Thin, beige head. The aroma of chocolate, coffee, and vanilla. Moderately sweet, with pleasant, roasted bitterness at the end. A decent sout.

I can see some liking this. It's not for me. Tastes, feels, smells like a milkshake. Win some/lose some. No hard feelings.

I got a can of this beer, nitro version, from a mixed Christmas 2021 holiday 24pck that my wife got me. It poured an opaque dark with thick ecru head that is leaving some lace. The scent had oatmeal cookie with chocolate chips. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with silky smooth chocolate presence with hints of coffee and oatmeal. The mouthfeel was medium in body with smooth carbonation. Overall it is a solid beer.

12oz nitro can. Poured out jet-black and opaque with a huge light brown head that slowly receded but never really dissipated. It smelled of espresso, chocolate, cream and vanilla. Sweet chocolate taste with coffee, toffee and some vanilla flavor.

APPEARANCE: Deep dark with ruby highlights. Huge foamy head of khaki suds and little to no lace.
NOSE: Refreshing coffee and cocoa with some nuttiness. Very nice!
TASTE: Super creamy and smooth, with coffee and chocolate leading the way. Did I say smooth? Mocha/espresso/coffee stout fans MUST try this one.

From the can in the 2021 BREWDOG Bier Advent Calendar, it pours a very dark brownblack color with a light brown head that lasts. In the nose, it is espresso and burnt malts. The mouth gets a very smooth, espresso flavored creamy stout. Nice.

I am a huge fan of Jet Black Heart and Joan Jet and Espresso. They should get Joan to do endorsements. I love em both. So this new version adds some extra kick. I don't know if that was necessary, but it's no great sacrilege to try something new.
This pours the way they should, with nice big foamy head, lacing, blackness, etc. The aroma is sweet and chocolatey, with coffee in there as well. It tastes just as you would want - not too bitter from the coffee and hops, and plenty sweet. It goes down so well you just want to guzzle it - that is also part of the style!
Highly recommended. Try the non-espresso version too.
