Looks like a carling, smells like a neipa, tastes like a pale ale, calls itself an IPA.

It actually looks like an alcohol free lager, oddly light straw colour, suggests it's been watered down a fair amount. It tastes lemony but goes down well like a us pale session ale or a lager-ale hybrid type, aroma is very juicy and there's that hoppy floral hint lingering in the back end. Strange beer, unexpected as i was expecting a bog standard session ipa like neck oil or whatever.

330ml can from Brewdog Online Shop (£1.23):
A very clear, light golden colour with a 2cm, foamy white head with a few bubbles on the surface & not bad retention hit its just a bit too light. The nose is clean & relatively light with some pine & citrus but it's not particularly pronounced. It's a very similar taste with citrus, subtle pine & grapefruit that are well balanced but definitely a little on the light side. The finish is quite tangy while the body is a light, almost thin one.

Okay, I will be honest, with Brewdog, to me it's always a hit or miss. So, when I first saw this can in a thread, I genuinely thought it was a photoshopped picture. Then I actually discovered at my local Aldi, it is no joke. Joke's on me, you could say.

Anyway, let'as see, if it's a budget IPA, or a better Brewdog experience.

Top: an inch of pure white head forms, average retention time.

Colour: crystal clear light straw, no haziness. Weird, I even like my lagers (if I ever have one) darker.

Smell: Pines (?), citrus, very light maltiness. Fresh, but not much of a character, to be honest.

Taste: follows the nose. Fresh, light, medium/medium+ carbonation. Bitterness is there, alright, feels slightly sticky, tho. Semi-dry/dry finish.

Summary: well, it's 1.79 for the unique Aldi design can of 330 ml Brewdog beerness, which is considered cheap. That being said, I'm far from impressed. It's a session IPA, and I can give it that, but the lack of character makes you forget it in a day. It is not bad, but again, Lidl has Twisted Knots, coming from an English brewery, and for less money it gives more character, more looks, more alcohol and more taste. And it's like 25% cheaper, retailing at 1.27, making it a Best Buy at the entry level. Will not go wrong with this, if you need a beer quick and Aldi is the closest shop.

Can. Clear straw. Rather insipid looking. Thin head.
Aroma of leaf and light citrus.
Tastes similar to aroma. Some tropical stoned fruit noticed. Medium bitter completion.
Sprightly feel.
Enjoy the joke not the beer.
