Black with a thick dark tan head. This one at the VIP reception at Stone's 14 Anniversary party.
Nose of black chocolate and roasted coffee/grains. There are undertones of citrus and a little orange or lemon peel. Nice nose.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied but a bit thinner than it looks or smells and thinner than anticipated.
Flavors are pleasant roasted coffee and undertones of malt. Hint of sweet but there is also a pine hop character in the flavor profile.
Candidly, this one is not a big or rich as other Brew Dog's I've had and a bit disappointing. A roasty and hoppy beer but with no real finnesse or character that stands out.
Finish is a relatively simple bitter espresso with some pine undertones.
Decent drink but not something that warrants special attention at a special tasting.

This is a collaborative beer between BrewDog and Jeremy Moynier of the Stone Brewing Company.
The Commercial Description:
"We also thought it would be great if Jeremy brewed his own beer while he was here, with Jeremy deciding everything right down to the name! The result a special 20HL batch of BlackDog, a 5.5% dark wheat stout with Columbus, Simcoe and Chinook and of course plenty of dry hopping action"
On tap @ the Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens 3/21/10. Served in a snifter.
Pours a dense black in the glass, with a thin foamy covering of burnt dark mocha colored head. Good retention on this, throwing a cascade of foam and brown oils up on the sides of the glass. The aroma smells of chocolate roast, coffee, and some toasted wheat character. Earth, pine, fruit, and citrus rind sit in the back of the nose. There seems to be a good bit of hop activity here but it's not popping a whole lot.
The taste has a dark roasted feel to it overall. Burnt malts and coffee, with some moderately biting hop activity going on with it. Pine and green citrus are fairly prominent, as is some lighter accents of wood and herbs. There is just a bit of chocolate sweetness hanging on the edges of the profile but the core of the flavor is roast, hops, and earth. The finish is dry roasted and bitter. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with a mellow crispness that gives this a good easy drinking feel despite the darker profile of this. Alcohol is right where it needs to be to keep this drinkable.
This was a bit of a two-trick pony here, with this mostly coming off as just roast and hops but it still packed enough flavor and stayed silky enough in the mouth to make for a pleasant drinking experience. It seems that the original intention of the hop profile has been diminished a bit by age. I would have liked to have tried this one a little more fresh.
