Copenhagen 8/4 2023. 33 cl can from Meny. Boorups Allé, Frb. F. Dark blue and gold shield on a steel can. The tagline is Amplified German Lager.

Comes gushing out of the can upon opening. Pours unclear amber with a big, bubbly white head. Settles as thin, flimsy layer of foam unable of covering the surface of the beer, Moderate lacing.

Aroma is fairly intense with sweet malty odor sporting a hard edge of alcohol. Sweet pale malts, cardboard, bread and grains. Metallic alcohol. Unforgiving.

Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, lightly tingling texture.

Flavor is medium intense with a rather strong sweetness follow by a moderately strong bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a bitter undertone. Finish is semi-dry and boozy.

Sweet, boozy Doppelbock. Amplified indeed.

not sure what these guys stand for politically or how they treat people or what to make of their business model, but i think they take a lot of flack and im not sure why. its odd because what beer person couldnt like this beer, and a lot of beers they make, so many flavors, tons of ambition, i dont know, i was a fan, and it was fun visiting one of their pubs briefly and checking back in with them, seem to be doing some great stuff. its sick they lagered this for 90 days, and its real light for the style, especially in appearance, where it presents almost brassy golden, more helles type bock than what we are used to from this style, not even a hint of amber to it. short but lasting white head from the tap. well mature this one, nice and dry for the style too, still has its body but its wildly crisp for what it is, and the yeast still is full flavored. in the absence of darker and richer and more concentrated malt notes, the yeast really stands out in here, traditionally german and bready to me, but also bringing out minerals and earthiness which makes this seem super clean, especially again for the style. it has some bittering hops too which i guess pushes it into the modern realm a little bit, not so ancient and timeless, but its a nice add, and and i dig the way it finishes fast but flavorful. would be a fine sipper, im sure it warms up well, but for me it was almost refreshing, unexpected, but a quick drinker. the yeast rules, the texture is great, the process is fun, and this was impressive overall, haters be damned!
