Decent drinkable hazy IPA. Head dissipates quickly, has a watery mouth feel and a tropical fruity taste.

Tossing aside all the Lord of the Rings imagery, this is just another fairly bland and unexciting session IPA. Certainly, Frodo and company deserve something bolder and tastier for their travels.

12 oz can. Pours hazy golden with tall, long lasting, fluffy white head. Aroma is of citrusy, piney hops, bready malt and tropical fruit. Body is full and crisp. Taste is of citrusy hops, bready malt and ripe fruit. Finish is medium and dry. OK brew.

Below average IPA (if it is one). Too mild and soft in all parameters, tastes watery and somehow diluted. Carbonation is high; mouthfeel is low. So is my the overall rating.

Brewdog Brewing Company LLC "Fellowship IPA"
12 fl. oz. can coded "ENJOY BY:12/16/22 2645 09:29" and sampled on 12/11/22
$2.29 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Notes via stream of consciousness: Labeled as a "HAZY INDIA PALE ALE" at just 5.0% ABV I'm certainly expecting some hops in here. It's poured a hazy golden color beneath a short head of big-bubbled white foam. The aroma is sweetish, resinous, and tropically fruity without revealing any specific fruits. The head has already dropped which is odd because I gave this glass a "beer clean" cleaning yesterday and used it for my last three beers without issue. There's very little lacing left behind as well. On to the taste then... at least there's more here. I'm getting notes of sweet mango, papaya, pineapple, nectarine, peach, apple, orange, and pomelo. The malt is basic but I can taste some oats in there which is nice. It's not that bitter at all but it still somehow finishes dry with some earthiness and a very light touch of pine. So, it appears that I have been let down. This is not an IPA, it's a lightly bitter pale ale. Now I will admit that this sample is just five days away from going past the "ENJOY BY" date but it couldn't have lost that much hop aroma and flavor that it's completely changed. OK, back to the beer itself, it's medium bodied on the lower end and gently crisp-then-smooth across the tongue. I am more than halfway through it and I never did get any more lacing. If I swirl the glass I can get the head back along with some spots of lacing but they eventually fade away. I'm not sure why Brewdog would chose to put this beer under the Lord of the Rings label as they've got to be paying for the rights to use the name. Wouldn't a better beer have been a better choice?

Poured out into my clear pint glass. The color was a light golden color with a small white head. The smell was of lemon and some other mix of citrus. Too bad that the ABV is so low. Overall, not that bad of a drink.

Fellowship IPA The Lord of the Rings from Brewdog. 12 oz can left by Thanksgiving guest. Stored at 34 degrees at home. Reviewed 29/11/22. Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Bottom of can stamped “ENJOY BY 12/10/2022”. Served at 46.9 degrees in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature is 54.1 degrees.
Appearance – 3.5.
First pour – Pale Straw (SRM 2), slight haze.
Body – Straw (SRM 3), opaque. Under direct light, same. Rear-lite, same.
Head – Large (Maximum 5.5 cm, aggressive center pour), ghost white, medium density, quickly diminishing to an undulating 0.7 to 1.3 cm medium density crown and thin, rocky cap. A few pieces of foam remain hanging on the glass.
Lacing – Good. Sinusoidal three-dimensional band of foam, with bubbles varying from tiny to medium.
Aroma – 3.0 – Weak citrus, primarily pineapple. No malt, no yeast.
Flavor – 3.25 – Very weak pineapple, no malt, no yeast, not bitter. No ethanol (5.0% ABV as marked on label) aroma or taste. No gastric warming occurs. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 3.5 – Medium, approaching creamy, soft but lively carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 3.5 Very mild flavor and aroma, non-bitter. Not sure this is even an IPA, at least by US standards.

12oz can. Saw this in the store and had to get it, my brother is a huge fan of LOTR. It's a light drinking IPA that drinks more like a pale ale, AKA mellow. Not as dank and piney as most IPAs, a nice lemongrass and lemon and grass flavor, but still bitter with a good bite

Pale golden haze, small head with poor retention and some minor lacing. Smell is average as is the flavor. Some good hop character but overall nothing special going on in any way. Nice refreshing feel, good NEIPA but no reason to come back to it.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of foam. It left sudsy rings of lace on the glass. It smelled of citrus, pineapple, caramel and resinous pine. It tasted of toasted caramel, tropical fruit and a piney bitterness.

Pours a hazy yellow with greenish hues with a frothy white head that leaves trails of lace.

subtle tropical fruit and floral notes with fresh grain and sunshine.

Bright flowery citrus with notes of lemon grass and fruited grain. A deliscious, solid IPA with subtle complexities and well balanced.
