Copenhagen 24/2 2023. 44 cl can from Meny, Borups Allé, Frb. F. White can with the name of beer, style and brewery in black letters.
Pours opaque, dark brown with a big beige head. Stable, Settles as thin, patchy layer of foam struggling to cover the surface of the beer. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is fairly intense with a sweet, sugary and a bit candy-like sweet scent and with subtle notes of dark alcohol. Chocolate cake, brown sugar, vanilla and toffee. Lactose in abundance. Whiff of Captain Morgan.
Light carbonation. Medium thick, oily, soft, smooth, lightly tingling texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a medium strong sweetness followed by a more moderate bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet with a notable bitter undertone. Lingers for a while. Finish is rather dry.
More pastry than barrel boozer.

440ml can from Brewdog Online Shop (£3.83):
Dark mahogany with a dark tan coloured head that's foamy, about 3cm tall & has a few bubbles in the centre of the surface. It's sweet smelling with oak, faint rum, molasses & chocolate then vanilla to finish. It's slightly less sweet tasting, some of an oak bitterness but still a lot of sugars, vanilla & some of the chocolate. It's medium bodied, sweet throughout & softly carbonated with a warming alcohol finish.

Can: Poured a black color stout with a medium size brown foamy head with OK retention and some light lacing. Aroma of light chocolate notes with some string vanilla notes. Taste is also a mix of light black chocolate notes with some cloying vanilla notes and some rum notes.Body is light with good carbonation. Not necessarily a big fan of this one as the vanilla seems fake and the taste is cloying.

Pours flat. Dark black, deep red against light. Smells sweet, creamy and vanilla. Taste follows. Thick vanilla with rum. Hints of artificial flavourings (which is an absolute shame) with an oak aftertaste. Beer contains maltodextin. Which explains the sweet flavour. I expected a dry-ish stout by the name. But was suprised by a almost cake like stout. As a limited time beer this is absolutely fine. Needs some refinement to be better tho (no flavourings and maltodextin please). Still fine as is. But there are better stouts for this price range.

L- Looks like EmpororBevis got to this before me, yet again ;-D
Seriously now... One of those beers that however high you raise the pour it seems to pour silent. This often pre-warns that a beer is a sugar-bomb. Darker than cola, very short-lived cap of bubbles, just a wisp left.
S- During the pour I could sense that creamy lactose+vanilla smell, from afar. Up close: Very creamy smelling and a subtle hint of rum.
T- Like heavily rum flavoured chocolate milk? Then emerging from behind that is a spikey and lingering waft of smoke. Certainly different! As this warms a touch of vanilla begins muscling in too.
F- Rich, creamy. Increasingly rummy as it warms a bit. Curiously for 7.2% the ABV is shrouded behind all the above^.
O- I have yet to read the lable but this beer seems to have a 'conflicted personality'/recipe. It's a quite sweet lactose-type smoked stout? That's my best estimate right now. If it weren't 7.4% and £3.65 I'd consider whether it's palatable enough to continue beyond the c150ml I've had so far. Who drinks this stuff and does anyone order a second; hmmm...
440ml crafty-can. Bought from a Waitrose £3.65 BB: 02/10/2024
Rated+reviewed, so now reading the can, ingredients include: 'Maltodextrin' (yukh!), 'flavourings' (ditto, like articial smoke? Who knows). Good job I didn't read^ before I bought it, because I wouldn't have.
