bottle 524 of 7hundred something (background noise covered up the number)

Dark reddish muddy, brownish/blackish color. Creamy tan head.

Smells of sweet malts and dark fruit with a real chocolate malt base. Lots of earthy oak character too.
The flavor is exactly what the nose prepared me for-- but with a lot of black raspberry flavor at the finish. Virtually no bitterness. No alcohol comes across either.
Body feels creamy with a low carbonation level.
This is good. It is better than regular Bashah and the other variant I had as well. It doesn't completely rock my world, but this beats the hell out of the score I would have given to regular Bashah (had I reviewed it).

375mL corked bottle poured into Stone Vertical Epic glass. Very nice art on the bottle.

Pours an opaque black with a deep tan head. Very chunky foam that hangs all over the glass. The smell is fresh crushed raspberry with undertones of vanilla, caramel, and oak. I keep getting vanilla ice cream with raspberry sauce. I can also catch a slight nose of peaty scotch if I catch it the right way. Fantastic aroma here. The first taste is thick, boozy raspberry followed by a woody, earthy scotch flavor. This is somewhat what I expected, but the raspberry and scotch completely take over the taste of the beer to the point where I don't know what kind of beer is underneath the strong flavors. Perhaps Bashah wasn't strong enough to stand up to this dose of aging. The raspberry and scotch are absolutely fantastic flavors here and taste great alone, but I keep thinking this would be so much better over a big stout than a black IPA. Mouthfeel is sharp and tingly, but manages to stay full...not bad, but again I'm longing for the smooth oiliness of a stout underneath. Definitely not going to be putting away very many of these...extremely strong, but glad I was able to sample this bottle.
