330ml bottle. Tequila barrel aged stout.
L: Very dark brown, very nearly black, with a half finger of creamy but short-lived mocha foam.
S: Spicy, woody and sweet. Plus alcohol.
T: Sweet, almost milk stout sweet. Raspberry jam, liquorice, treacle and vanilla. Low bitterness. Alcohol heat builds over time.
F: Velvet smooth with an oily mouth coating. Prickly carbonation.
O: A good imperial stout. Smooth and clean tasting. The wood aging is noticeable but there’s a freshness from using tequila barrels rather than the usual whisky, rum or bourbon barrels. Improves as it warms a little. Excellent winter warmer. I have 4 bottles left that I’ll be leaving for Christmas.
