There are times for mellow beers. And there are times for an absolute banger of a West Coast IPA. Krush, Mosaic, Citra and Talus Lupomax bring all the zesty citrus notes, creating a beautiful explosion of orange, mango and pine held together with a bitter backbone.

Copenhagen 17/10 2025. 44 cl can from Meny, Borups Allé, Frb. F. Light blue can with a golden bottom and the name of the beer in elegant white letters.
Pours unclear golden yellow with a mid-sized white head. Settles as a thin patchy layer of fogm unable of covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing.
Aroma is moderately intense with a sweet odor of ripe stone fruits mingling with a more prominent scent of tart citrus fruit. Dry vibe, Sweet peach and apricot. Grapefruit and lemon.
Rather strong carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, lively and tingling texture. On the verge of being fizzy.
Flavor is medium intense with s medium strong sweetness followed by a slightly stronger bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter. Lingers for a while. Finish is rather dry,
Bitter yet a bit generic.

440ml can.
L: Not quite clear, orange gold colour and two fingers of lumpy head that leaves a ring of lacing. Sure looks like a westie.
S: Orange pith and more than a hint of cabbage. Hmm.
T: Citrus and a touch of malt but little to no pine or resin. Doesn’t taste like a westie.
F: Medium body, moderate carbonation and a dry-ish finish. Doesn’t feel like a westie.
O: Was hoping for more from a 6.8% beer marketed as a West Coast IPA. I tend to think of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (or Lagunitas IPA) as the mainstream benchmark for this style and this version from Brewdog, to my mind, has too much citrus and too little resin and is nowhere near bitter enough. It’s a little bland, if I’m being brutally honest.
