Dark brown color with one finger caramel head with low retention.
As announced sweet aroma of raisins soaked in rum, peat, oak, caramels and earthy hops.
Similarly, flavor of peat, earthy hops, dark fruits, smoked and roasted malts, plums, rum and oak. Its residual taste continues indefinitely.
Full body with low carbonation. Alcohol of 11.9% abv is at a perfect level to improve the experience.
Excellent Scottish Ale, bold and balanced, peat and a good deal of hops unleashed to counterbalance its sweetness.

Dark hazy brown colour with a small tan head. Decent head retention.

Lovely and interesting aroma. Lots of brown sugar, touches of peat smoke and then some fruity dried raisins.

The palate amps up the peat smoke with the toffee malt as well. There is an earthiness too along with some oak but mostly this is smoky.

Medium body with moderate carbonation. Good.

A really solid beer. I like the smoke in combination with sweeter sugars. To some tastes the smoke will be a bit much and it could be toned down a little to let the rum soaked raisins shine.

Bought a bottle just because I thought it sounded really interesting. Crack it open tonight and poured it into a Brandy Snifter. The beer poured out as a thick looking deep reddish brown color. The head was light tan and fades into a thin ring around the edge of the glass. Some light lacing after each sip but fades within a few moments. The smell of the beer is sweet, it's got some caramel and raisin, some fresh wood and some booze in there too. The taste is also sweet with some very subtle spice notes as well as the wood and whiskey flavors coming out strong. The mouthfeel is thick, it's got a nice heavy body to it with a subtle carbonation also. Overall this beer exceeded my expectations, I was hoping for a good brew and I definitely got one. I would drink it again if the price was right.
