Brasserie De La Baie

I literally stumbled upon this farm while I was lost in Normandy (on a back road far from the D-Day beaches; closer to Mont Saint-Michel). As I drove, I could smell spent barley malt. Placing my car in reverse, I found the suspect grains and parked the car to see if I could find the farmer.

He reluctantly made time for me and provided the only two beers he had bottled. There was no place to try the beer, no store, little interest in taking my money as he had no change (he threw in a trinket to make the exchange fair); it was truly a farm that made beer. Coincidentally, I was introduced to my first Farmhouse Ale here--a blonde and a brune.
