somewhat of a summer seasonal belgian pale here, low in abv and well carbonated, easy drinking but full of flavor. much like their saison, i found this one to be on the generic side, could be almost any american brewery's belgian pale. just fruity enough on the yeast, just enough crystal malt to balance it out and make it bold, and just enough hops for it to be american, but barely just enough. copper colored, crystal clear, average white head. its nice in its chalice style glassware, but the nose doesnt do a whole lot for me really, just too familiar, too plain for me. the hops could be a little more interesting from a varietal standpoint. more bitter and subtle aromatic floral than anything, dry hop this thing with something from new zealand, and now we are talking. this isnt that though, its too traditional for that, its belgian after all in its grand plan. refreshing brew though, the yeast lightens a malt bill just a few points too heavy for what i assume they are after. it fills me up a little, and cuts into how many i want. i think two pints is about right for this one. clean finish, slight banana fruit notes as it swallows, and plenty of bubbles washing the palate clean. another very well made beer from carters, but less fun from a recipe standpoint than may others that they do.
