this is awesome beer, i have always liked the saison and farmhouse types these guys make. the abv was listed at 6.4% when i was in, so this has likely evolved some from batch to batch. its super well refined now, and the perfect fall sipper really, especially out of the bulbous stemware they serve it out of at their brewery. the color is a deep matte amber shade with a tall frothing khaki head on it, permanent, and lots of bubbles evident. aroma is lots of dried fruits from the malt, apples and raisins and some toffee sweetness too, which marries up well with the french type saison yeast, a little estery but well under control. nuances of roasted chestnut and brown sugar also exist here, and there is a neat agricultural vibe to it overall thats quite rustic and appealing. the flavor matches the aroma, lots of dried fruit up front, red apple, fig, even plantain, and its supported by bready malt sweetness. the fermentation profile is subtle compared to others in this style, but the beer overall comes together incredibly well and stands as a fantastic example of a style we dont see enough of from american brewers. light sherry, white wine, and even berry character on the finish, an awesome glass of beer here, round bodied, smooth, and lively. yum!

Slightly hazed orange brew with a nice enough white head... Clean balanced maltiness that is balanced by a nice grassy hop component.. Light dry toast and good pils malt background... Great complexity packed in a low ABV brew.. Nice drinkability in a style that is tough to get correct... Interesting.
