Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served an amber red color with a one finger head of white foam. The head has a decent level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a lighter level of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is biggest of a caramel and toasted malt smell mixed with some other aromas of grain and a bit of a citrus and herbal hop.
Taste – The taste begins with a toasted malt flavor mixed with lots of caramel and a little bit of grass. As the taste moves on the caramel gets a little bit lighter while the hop intensifies with more herbal and grassy hop coming to the tongue. In the end a little bit of graininess and some more toast come to the tongue, leaving one with a rather pleasant and decently hoppy Oktoberfest flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is on the average with a carbonation level that is rather average as well. For the Oktoberfest style mixed with the hoppiness the feel is refreshing but still flavor accentuating on and creates a very smooth and crisp drinker.
Overall – Not too malty, not too sweet and a decent bit of danker hop. This was a tasty and drinkable O’fest.
