another solid beer from carters, they seem pretty dialed in across a big range of styles here. this is a classic belgian wit, maybe a little more clear and a little more hoppy than most, but it fits well into the style and seems slightly modern because of its refinement and hopping. it shiny and bright in the glass, and it smells summery and refreshing, with lemon and orange citrus peel notes and a toasted coriander seed property, although i dont know if those ingredients actually made it in here or not. it could just be from the yeast esters, which also tease green pear and apple and white wine to me, along with some familiar belgian white pepper spiciness before the finish. the wheat malt tastes fresh here too, and sets up the citrus forward hops in the finish really well. perhaps a little less complex than the best examples of the style out there, but the quality is there and it certainly is drinkable. i have a ton of respect for carters and always cant believe they arent more widely talked about and appreciated. this is a nice one for the hot summer weather!
