Yields a crystal clear golden color with a froth medium sized head atop.
Offers aromas of wet grass, notes of dried herbs and fresh kneaded bread dough.
Its mouthfeel is light and refreshing with a well developed, lively yet soft carbonation, showcasing a well balanced, thirst quenching beer.
Tastes of spicy, dry leaves, light honey and a note of sunny caramel among a lingering, grassy hop impact. The beer produces a pleasant, prevailing and almost subtle hop dryness, which playfully entangles into bread dough, oatmeal and timid toffee. Its bright and clean impression gets topped off in the finish by grainy crackers, lime zest and rich straw, creating a crisp, pleasant ending with a longer lasting hop dryness.
This is a very pleasant Vollbier with a fantastic balance and depth of flavors to it. It is definitely on the hoppier end of things, putting many of its industrial brewed cousins to shame, as this manages to establish a complexity which fulfills every Lager beer drinker‘s desires.

Brauerei Witzgall "Vollbier"
on tap at the brewery on
Notes: Clear deep gold in color beneath a full head of white foam. Very good head retention and lacing. Straighforward grainy malt aroma with a smear of noble hops. The flavor follows with a rich but not overly full bready maltiness that's tempered by a stiff bitterness, and livened by some herbal hops. It finishes malty but mostly dry with just a touch of herbal hops lingering shortly. Medium bodied and gently crisp-then-smooth with a fine-bubbled, seemingly natural moderate carbonation. Although there's nothing really out of the usual here it's remarkably satisfying and highly quaffable.

Sampled on-tap at the Brewery in Schlammersdorf.
This beer poured a clean, golden color with white foam that clung to the glass and left some lace. The smell was nice, biscuity malt with a hint of aromatic hops. The taste was a very nice biscuity flavor similar to a Pils, with good, aromatic, noble hops. The mouthfeel was dry with medium body and medium carbonation with good biscuity malt in the finish with mild hoppiness overall. This was quite an enjoyable lager beer.
