At 6.0% ABV, this was Northern AlesÂ’ least potent beer when I showed up ten weeks after they opened for business. Flagstaff has a dull brassy color that is deep but not clear and not nearly as red as Scotch ales are generally. It showed slow, persistent carbonation and no head or lace. A faint, fruity aroma of peach and wildflower emerges from a beer whose taste lines are comparable to many American Scotch ales though with perhaps just a notch more bittering. No peat malts are used.
