This is my favorite brewpub and it's worth the drive to Canon City.

We go here weekly for sweet and spicy buffalo wings, to die for potato chowder, and the best IPA around. We stock up on our growlers while we are there as well. The prime rib was decent, as was the corned beef and cabbage. Cornish hen is good as well. Thursday nights they have a shrimp boil that's really good. Fridays is a fish fry but we tend to go before it starts, it is also excellent. They have superb fries and onion rings.

I could not eat at McClellans in September 2008 but it appeared to be one of the more varied and sophisticated menus in Canon City. In addition to Shepherd's Pie, burger and salads they featured a grilled artichoke appetizer which looked promising, and a Rock Cornish Game Hen. They seemed to know what they were talking about - for example I overheard the staff offering two separate horseradish sauces for a beef dish.

The IPA (ImPA) was outstanding. Quite floral, nice copper color, 6.1 %; the brewer knows what he is doing. The Lockhart Stout in this Irish-themed pub was of course Irish Stout - very dry, 5.2%, and pretty good. The Mallard Scottish Ale at 6.7% was also good to this hophead who is usually not that impressed by Scottish Ales. The Daniels Irish Red at 5.5 % (only a taste) was not all that impressive, but by that time it may have been me - I was sated. They also brew their own Root Beer.
Excellent beer and apparently good food in a town which needs more of both (my mom's hometown). PLEASE stay in business!

Stopped in for lunch a few days ago.

I liked the look of the place, artsy with some attempt to keep things Celtic. I'm sure this place is pretty rocking when the live music is pumping here

Most of the beers were above average to good. The Piton Pale Ale, Irish Red & especially the Im Pale Ale were the best beers in offer. The stout & blonde, not so much

Service was first rate & enthusiastic

Only 5 ales on offer plus strong bow cider. Usually there is 7 ales according to my waitress

The food was great, had the green chille hamburger, yum, plus the best onion rings I've ever had. The menu has some nice variety as well, pub food, plus other good choices

I thought the beer was reasonable $3.75 a pint as I recall

If your in or near Canon city, I'd advise you to check this place out. Not the best brew pub I've set foot in, but not bad
