Brewed by Wadworth's Brewery of Devizes UK by Mark Szmaida (Chelsea Brewer) for J D Wetherspoon. Should this review be with them or here?

Curiously on Cask. I found this to be a well balanced beer more reminiscent of an English bitter. I wonder if this was because it was hand pulled?

It would seem this improved the serving judging by the other reviews.

- Free sample at a Chelsea Brewing tasting. Special thanks to Big Z's in Huntington NY -

A - Light maple syrup. Loose bubble on the head.

S - Malt, raisins, honey.

T - Dusty hop character. Woody bitterness. Grapefruit pith. Mild toast.

M - Body is light, almost watery.

O - An ok beer. 'A' for effort on the hop front, but the execution is a little flat. The dusty notes detract from the rest of the flavors, and the body needs a bit more girth to round out the bitterness.

Chelsea Brewing Company Sunset Red...on tap at the brewery.

Appearance-amber red color of course, medium head goes up and down and sits in the glass.

Smell-sweet malt, light spice, alcohol.

Taste/Mouthfeel-leans malty, hops in back, medium body. Touch of metal, muddled texture on the way down. Finishes with a last touch of malt, not the strongest flavor.

Drinkability-malty and light.

Overall-mediocre and uninspired, too many better versions of this EVERYWHERE for me to recommend this.

This beer poured a reddish copper color with a thin head. The smell is mostly slightly roasted malt with some grassy hops. The taste is sweet malt that gives way to a bit of hops in the finish. The mouthfeel is a little watery with some thin carbonation. This is a pretty drinkable beer, a little one note but the note isn't unpleasant.

Pours an amber hue that is clear and carries a brown tone. Nose is sweet. Flavor is hoppy a bit with a slight metallic edge on a sweetness. Feel has a decent bubble to it and a nice enough liquid feel. Definitely worth trying. A pretty even brew overall.

This brew pours a dark amber/red with a foamy, off-white head, leaving a good amount of lacing on the glass. The smell is strong on hops, as is the taste. Bitter as well. The main characteristic is the hoppy taste. Still, this would be a good session beer as it is solid throughout and has a nice, crisp finish. I enjoyed this. Should've had it with food.

On tap at the brewery. Very red, lots of lace. Bit of soapy head. An aroma of hops, and then a hoppy bitterness, a hop fix. A bit aggressive on palate. There was malt, but it's on the IPA side. I understand that it was too sweet in previous batches. Not bad.
