The beer pours a hazy dark red color with a thick frothy offwhite head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It has a rich, malty scent that leans towards roasted and crystal malts. It's well balanced with only a moderate hop presence. This is definately a more malt centric ale. The taste is decent as well. It has a smooth malty flavor that's rich in caramel flavor and warming in the finish. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a full bodied beer with adequate carbonation. This is a very good red ale. I like them to be a little hoppier, but this is fine just the way it is.
