This dark stout is blended with 100% Callebaut Belgian Cocoa. There are rich roasted notes with the bitterness of chocolate and the subtle sweetness of caramel malts.
This was brewed specially for The Ginger Man in NYC, I velieve for their Valentine's Day chocolate beer tasting event.
From 02/18/12 notes, on tap at Ginger Man in NYC. Served in a pint glass.
a - Pours a pitch black color with one inch of dark tan head and moderate carbonation evident.
s - Smells of sweet chocolate malts, roasted malts, cocoa, bitter chocolate, toasted malts, some light dark fruits. Ton of chocolate, very nice nose.
t - Tastes of sweet milk chocolate, cocoa, roasted malts, bready malts, oak, light coffee, bakers chocolate. Tiny bit musty. Nice but but as nice as the nose.
m - Medium body and moderate carbonation. Smooth and easy to drink.
o - Overall I liked this one quite a bit. A sweet stout but not overly sweet. Tried alongside some other chocolate stouts like ST Choklat and it held it's own. Continue to be impressed with Chelsea's beers.
