Attractive color of amber with an adequate head in the Het Kapittel chalice. Spritzy and a little sharp on the tongue, but less acidic than typical IPAs. Pleasantly warm with a toasted malt taste. Just moderate bitterness. Grainy, cereal taste, a little like rye with a resiny note.
Thoroughly drinkable. A very friendly IPA with plenty of hop aromatics and less pain. A mineral tang. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at New Seasons Market in Portland.

I bought this 22 oz bomber at Fred Meyer on Commercial in S.Salem. $5.29 Pours a typical clear orange colour with a small bubbly light tan head. Sweeter spicy, citrus and floral hop aromas, Light caramel malts. Smooth orange hop flavors..balanced by the caramel malts..quite nice. Good drinkable mouth feel. very drinkable. Good Single hop!

Poured into a Black Raven pint glass. Pours a medium golden amber with coppery tint; thin white head that maintained a thick film and light lacing. Aroma of orange family citrus, faint tropical fruit, citrus, floral hops. Light aroma, but a nice one. Flavor is mild pale malt, grassy, lightly citrus hops that slowly build to reveal herbal grassy, orange citrus and lightly citrus hop bitterness. Like the other varieties in this series, I found the malt somewhat bland and the the flavor initially light, but have to appreciate the purpose here to exhibit the hops, which this does well. I'm not familiar with the Ahtanum variety, but liked the light fruitiness and floral character, with herbal and mild grassy hints. I will continue to support this series to help educate my palate; I've enjoyed the three I found so far. It would be cool to do a flight of these to compare between them.
