Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a medium golden amber with coppery notes and a three finger white head with great retention and thick lacing. Aroma of biscuit malt, grassy hops and a little lemon. Flavor is lightly grainy biscuit malt, citrus and grassy hops, hints of lemon and grapefruit and a little mint, spicy. Finishes with grassy, lightly citrus hops and lingering hints of mint. Medium bodied with a good light to medium creaminess, nice mouth feel. IMHO, imperial pilsners are too uncommonly encountered in the market. They show up so rarely that each time I see one, I hesitate buying it because pilsners are not a style that usually gets me excited and there is a lot of beer to catch up on. But every time I do try an imperial pilsner, like Searock, I decide it is one of my favorite styles. This isn't even that huge an imperial ABV, but the flavors are all enhanced and seem more alive. This has a very nice, classic biscuit body and nicely selected hops that are not quite traditional, having a little more citrus taste to them, but add a little zest to the overall continental hop flavors. I like this a lot and hope to see more of the style in the future.
