several fruit versions of this have existed, blood orange and grapefruit ones for sure, i recall fondly the blood orange, but i think this tangerine one thats out now is even better, not too much fruit and almost no sweetness from it, and it all hits late, like after the hop climax, so there are nice flavor layers to this, and i think the hops are well selected for this fruit specifically, or the other way around, but its a beautiful marriage and a summery but still hoppy beer, well done. branded as citrus ipa, but specifying tangerine in the fine print. bronze toned beer, some malt color apparent, a little older school base beer i reckon, some bitterness all through it kind of confirms that, but a nice fresh piney hop nose with some rindy and pithy citrus intensity thats very complimentary, not sure i totally would call out tangerine in the nose, but oranges for sure, some essential oily brightness to it, not overdone at all, and no sweeter from the fruit than from the grain, good balance and freshness to my nostrils. the flavor is two peaks, first the grain has some honey and graham cracker sweetness and richness which sets up the woodsy northwestern hop profile really well, gin and spruce and pine needles and some zesty grapefruit character all there, lightly dank, and it kind if fades into the tangerine as that part ramps up, the swallow is more fruit than hops as is the recall, but the proportions of both are great and that they each have their moment in a beer thats still really drinkable is a nice feature. good carbonation here, a little more than medium bodied, very mild citrus acidity does lighten and quicken it some, neutral and rather complete ferment. quality beer, nice hops for this fruit, nice fruit for these hops, bold base ipa handles plenty of tangerine. not quite light enough to be summery, but id have several anytime. well done.

This beer pours a nice golden color and a very light haze. It has a small head with some lacing. The aroma is not particularly strong in any flavor. You notice some citrus notes, but not many. The tangerine taste comes in at the finish and is very weak. Not as much hop flavor as I expected. This is a very light and refreshing IPA. Rated 7-5-2023
