It's a dank, dark and dull apricot-amber colored brew that spilled out to empty a pint can. Now in clear glass liter mug, it brought a very modest off-white head that seems to be sustaining. The only characteristic of the smell is starch, likely oats. So, it drinks like expected. The mouthfeel is soft and starchy. There may be some hops, possibly piney, but they're mostly overwhelmed by all the starch. Only during the finish does this become a little bitter and a little cleaner. Just as the lacing in the glass, this isn't bad. Actually, the stratified lacing is very good. But, it's a little too much softened by, presumably, the oats in the wort. They add to mellowing a brew and mouthfeel, but at the expense of muddling the specific individual tastes. Certainly not a bad brew, but it's not completely tasty, nor a challenge for the best in its category. Basically, to use the hackneyed idiom, this is just a little better than take it, or leave it.
