The strawberry hit happens at the cracking open of the pint can. Emptying its entire contents into a clear glass liter mug produces even more strawberry aroma. Now, the vanilla and a beer smell can also be detected. It looks like many American Milkshake IPAs with its rich apricot-amber color, haziness and proper off-white head. Sadly, the overall taste suffers from the lactose, as it muddles things. It may increase the notice of the vanilla, but the strawberry aspect diminishes. It's an unfortunate price to pay for a smooth and supple body. It also adds some unappreciated stickiness and bland chalkiness to the mouthfeel. At least there's a nice hoppy kick to the whole thing. This straddles the line between a Milkshake IPA and a fruited ale fairly well. There's not much glass lacing, nor taste of alcohol. It likely would be better without the lactose, or at least a reduced amount of it.
