First had: on cask at Yards Brewing Co., Philly, PA, for their 5th annual Real Ale Fest 2012
Exploitation is a triple Cascadian dark ale (American black ale, "black IPA," what have you), which uses their Hop'solutely as a base, adding dark malts, and further dry-hopping with Cascade, Chinook, Citra, and Simcoe.
Poured a dark, brownish black, opaque, but translucent around the edges, with a minimal layer of frothy white bubbles on top; no real retention or lacing to speak of. Not too much in the aroma, mostly piney hops and a bit of sugary malts. Taste was mostly dominated by hoppy fruitiness, orange blossom, pine, pineapple, and a solid cocoa malt base. A tad soapy, but nothing offensive. Medium body, very smooth for the style, and quite drinkable overall.
