part of sampler tray at the brew pub.
Served as a cloudy amber color (with a slice of lemon) with slight white head. Smell is bananas and spices and cloves. Taste is a nice clove texture with a slight background dryness. Mouthfeel is excellent with the banana, clove texture really coming through. An excellent brew. ( One of friends who was at the table, who I have never seen drink a beer, tasted it and liked it so much that she ordered a pint)

Executive Summary: Brought a growler home...love at first sight, smell, taste...

Appearance: Hazy golden, classic Hefe...presented with the obligatory lemon slice on the pint glass.

Smell: Wonderful cloves, banana, citrus on the nose.

Taste: Like Weihenstephaner, but better (is that blasphemy?). Sweet and spicy with a citrus tang to it.

Mouthfeel: Very nice. Full-bodied...thicker than I had expected. A pleasant surprise.

Drinkability: It was all I could do to keep from downing the growler at the dinner table. A great, great warm weather beer.

I was happy to see this back on tap during this year's Musikfest. This is a very nice hefe, a deep golden brown color with thick haze and a lively white lace. It smells of clove and the Weihenstephaner yeast strain that really makes this beer. The taste is incredible. Smooth and clean notes of clove, banana and lemon/corriander serve as the base and a tangy sweetness fills the mouth. Nice balance of lively spice flavor and refreshing wheat wraps up with a tart ending. Mine was served sans fruit (good thing), but that may have been because they were busy. Well worth trying, especially in these hot summer days.

An excellent German style hefe-weizen that is brewed with the awesome weihenstephaner yeast. This brew was a cloudy yellow colour with a huge off-white head of foam. The aromas were of bubble gum, bananas, cloves, and other spicy yeast notes, with a subtle kiss of hops in the middle as well. The taste was spicy, fruity, and very delectable indeed. The mouthfeel was creamy/smooth and the drinkability was truly exceptional. Wow, this weizen is very close to Weihenstephaner itself! An excellent seasonal by BBW, that begs to be drunk by the growler!

I must admit, I am not the biggest fan of Hefeweizens in general, but this one is very much worth swallowing my pride. A very murky yet golden color, it has a great earthiness on the nose and in every last sip, parlaying into notes of banana and certainly some melon or citrus. A very well-crafted brew. If I had to pick a handcrafted wheat beer to drink, this may be one of the top.
