Bottle from The Beermongers, side by side with the Weyermann version.
Clear straw yellow with a dense, white head with excellent retention and lacing, this looks great. In contrast with the Weyermann version (W henceforth), this is grainier, more honey like, has more of a multigrain bread character (as opposed to W, which is more of a dark wheat character). Really rustic, to the point that the hops are subdued. The palate opens mildly sweet with a little bit of honey, toasted grain, lots of grainy flavors (wheat, malt, barley) with the mid-palate having a mild hop bitterness and a moderate hop flavor. Drying, mildly bitter on the finish with nice hop flavor and a little simple syrup present, this beer is light in body, moderately carbonated and soft and supple on the palate. Not as wonderfully full yet light as the W version. Excellent, though W is better. The base malt here is so assertive that i feel it's better suited to a saison or biere de garde.
