Big pile of suds on the lovely dark auburn red-brown brew. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Bottleworks in San Diego. Distinct licorice flavor that is really appealing. Just slightly bitter and the faintest whiff of hops. Somehow it balances the candy and warm malt. Very roasty but not overly sweet.
Overall this is extremely drinkable and as good a Baltic Porter as I've had. The brewer explains that they weren't able to use "Baltic Porter" on the label for some reason so it says "Holiday Lager." Go ask your lawyer.

22 oz bottle purchased from Lifesource in Salem OR $5.99 Wow, what an attractive ale! Very dark brown almost black with the loveliest creamy tan head i have seen for a while. Aromas of chocolate, creamy coffee, nuts and toasted coconut. A little earthy. Taste the same as the nose but blended as in an awesome adult smoothie drink! Wonderful stuff. Great palate..soft and thick and smooth..yet has a slightly drying finish that keep it from getting sticky/cloying. Really beautiful winter beer.
