16 oz. can. Amber body with an ample white head. Smells of pine, caramel, and toasted bread. Tastes of a nice grapefruit hop flavor, toasted malts, a touch of caramel, and a little bit of spice in the back end. Long grapefruit bitterness with some pine in there too. Medium body. Very drinkable but super flavorful. Excellent.

This might be a California Common, but there is nothing common about it! (Haha, I slay myself.) But for reals, this one hits me right well like Ted Williams in the clutch. Now, I wouldn’t put this one in the Hall of Fame like ol’ Ted, but it’s still solid like the Dodgers hopes to repeat in 2021.

Darker reddish amber colored. Mildly spicy pumpernickel, light caramel, quite a bit of floral hop bite, medium leafy bitterness that lingers on the backend for quite a while. Tastes like darker bread with a big hop bite. An interesting non-stylistic brew.

A: The beer is clear amber in color and has a moderate to high amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a short white head that left patches
S: Moderate aromas of biscuit malts are present in the nose along with notes of citrusy and floral hops.
T: The taste follows the smell and has flavors of biscuit malts with hints of toasted malts and underlying notes of citrusy and floral hops, the latter of which also contribute a slight amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. The finish is very dry on the mouthfeel.
O: This beer smells and tastes rather malty, but it has nice underlying notes of citrusy and floral hops that prevent any sweetness and only contribute a slight amount of bitterness.
Serving type: can

Medium carbonation with about the same for the body. Crystal clear amber color.
Aroma is roasted malt, toast, malt, dark honey and grain
Taste is mildly sweet matched by an equally mild hop bitterness. Toaste, roasted malt, sugary yet not very sweet.
Balanced is often overused but this has a nice equal balanced array of really pleasant flavors.

Coastal (Common, as it used to be called) pours a perfect shade of amber orange, just on the cusp of rust. Appropriate to the oxidation process, it looks relatively clear but tainted just a bit. The barely off white cap lingers around the coast of the glass once settled, and leaves decent rings of lace from head to toe.
This is filled with subtle, but wonderful aromas of caramel drizzled bread, and dark fruits. Raisins and fig barely scratch the surface, but once noted you cannot let go.
The flavor is much more toasty than it's implied scent would indicate. Otherwise, the caramel, toast and bread are there, dark fruits...just barely. But new to the party are peppery spices and dried floral notes that linger on well into the aftertase.
This starts off smooth and semi-sweet, but has a good dose if bitterness to compliment that floral finish. It's bubbly carbonation gives a percieved dryness allowing for sip after sip. However, if times is allowed, the sugary sweetness coats in time giving it an unusual and unpredictable body.
The other site claims this is the #1 Amber Lager in the country. I don't know if that's saying much to most, but it would mean something to me. And on that note, I do think it is good, but once again Heater Allen is hit or miss for me, and this one doesn't grab me wanting for more. Prost!

Poured from 22 oz bottle into a .5L stein. Bottle date 2/08/16.
Hazy, rich amber color with a luscious, creamy head.
Aroma is polarized, with toast and honey malt aromas and some orange hop aromas.
Flavor is light honey and biscuit, with a strong soapy bitterness that lingers well into the next sip. For a style that is supposed to be smooth, this one far missed the mark.
Mouthfeel has a medium body with medium carbonation and bitterness lingering on the pallet—but not astringent.
Overall, bitterness is way too high for this to be an enjoyable beer. Default to their pils, or any other one.
