Growler from New Seasons in Cedar Hills.
A clear copper with a dense, off-white head with great retention and lacing, this looks great. The nose is a delicious smoky, bready , toasty, caramel with a deep, earthy, mildly woody smoke with a little bit of smoky bacon grease. The palate opens with a blend of smoke and a firming hop bitterness that complements the smoke perfectly. There's a continuum of flavor from earth, to wet leaves and wet wood (from the hops) to smoldering leaves and twigs, kissed with a drizzle of brown sugar and tossed onto a hearty slice of whole wheat toast. The mid palate has a blend of caramel and a little toffee. Smoky, drying, mildly bitter on the finish, this beer is light in body and softly carbonated. Creamy, smooth, delightful. The smoked malt adds depth, nuance and structure to an already excellent marzen
