Pours a coal black with a rocky tan head that lasts a decent length of time.
Aroma is filled with faint coffee and some caramel. Nice, but very light. I'd like to smell more, as what is here works.
Flavor is surprisingly full of coffee. Some hop flavor, but it hides behind the coffee and roasted malts. Roasts add a bitterness that compliments the hops. Prickly carbonation somewhat detracts from the overall experience.
Thin body. Nothing else to say. It's just thin. More substance would help.
This is better than I had expected. It's not great and I doubt I would buy more, but I'm not sorry I drank this. Worth a shot.

Thanks to Bort11 for sending my 55/60 state/province. I was not expecting too much, there is a home bias to these lesser known craft beers. That was probably the case here. Mistakely drank it as a stout, it is a porter, and fine for the style. Fresh taste, thank you, but also a bit watery and aggessive carbonation.

Thanks to jtrockchalk for throwing this in as an extra.
Poured from a 12 oz. bottle.
Appearance: Dark brown/black body with a thin tan head (color reminds me of a frappuccino)
Smell: Some hops and a burnt aroma, probably toffee.
Taste: Good upfront with a moderate coffee presence (no hops) but ends a little acidic, almost astringent making for a not so great aftertaste. Not much more than that.
Mouthfeel: Slightly better but a little bit thin. Carbonation is good though and the light roasted taste is more present as the brew warms.
Drinkability: I notched it slightly higher as it's easy to drink but i won't go out of my way to get it again.
Overall: An average tasting porter with so-so taste. I've had better porters than this one. It's not bad but it is a tad boring.

I bought this to help support one of my favorite local breweries, Flying Monkey (even though it is a contract brew).
The appearance was rather suprising, as it looked like a very fine porter or light-colored stout. Head was rather thin, but lacing remained present.
The smell was nothing exceptional, hints of coffee and hops.
Taste was also like smell. I was expecting a little more after pouring this nice looking beer into my frosty pint glass. It was not bad, but for the price I can get a lot better ales. This is smooth to drink, but feels a bit too thin for the style. Drinkability is good.

A bottle courtesy of hwwty4.
A: The porter is a dark brown-black combination. I was expecting some level redness to emerge when the ale was held to light but nuthin' doin'.
S: The porter has some charred notes that float in the background. The aromas upfront are grainy and nondescript.
T: The malts are roasted, blackened with a lot of burnt toast. A strong hop profile lurks below the surface, adding a nice finish to the ale. The burnt flavor does linger long and is the best feature in an otherwise ho-hum ale.
M: The mouthfeel has fleeting moments of charred, hoppy goodness. Otherwise there are plenty of porters I'd rather go for.
D: The ale doesn't come across as strong but the flavors are focused enough to make me have more than one.

First off: Great name, great label.
A - Poured out a rich, cola-brown color with a good sized, caramel colored head that left sticky rings of lace.
S - It smelled of roasted malt with hints of coffee and oats.
T - It had a bittersweet kick from the hops and a nice roasted malt flavor.
M - It was smooth and sharp on the back of the tongue. A medium-bodied beer.
D - This is a very good porter, especially considering the price ($6.49 for a sixer).

A - Pours very dark (black) with a creamy tan head 1.5 fingers thick that holds its shape and leaves a lot of lace. No good dating or ABV on the bottle.
S - Sweet chocolate malt is the primary scent followed by a burnt nut undertone and maybe a hint of caramel.
T - Like the aroma, bitter dark chocolate with a slight coffee edge is dominate. A nice hoppy bitterness followes and finishes. Strong flavor with a welcomed aftertaste.
M - Medium carbonation, maybe a little too much. Medium to full body, more to the side of full. Hoppy bite all around the tongue, but mainly in back. Coates as well.
D - This is a porter? It has very good flavor and balance, but it's too strong for the class and the only reason I ranked it lower. It would be a high B if it were an imperial stout. I wouldn't hesitate to drink one again, though. Recommended, but be ready for a higher-than-porter kick.

Dark brown, opague brew with a moderate but quick disipating tan head that does manage a bit of lacing while it lasts.
The aroma is roasted malt, smoke, burnt toast.
The taste is also primarily dark roasted malt, burnt toast, hints of coffee, cocoa, smoke and even some actual piney/citrus hops at the finish.
Fairly dry, medium bodied, texture is a bit rough but still easily drinkable. The hops level is a bit different for a porter, but a plus for hops lovers.

12oz. brown bottle served in a shaker pint. Bottle conditioned. Poured an opaque brown/black. About one finger of fine bubbled brown head. Cocoa and roasty malt in the aroma with some hops. A very dry beer with a lot of roasted barley bitterness. Medium body. There is a bit of a smoky flavor. There is hop bitterness there, but it doesnt really jump out at you. The flavors seemed a bit muddled at first, but it started to grow on me.
