Purchased as part of "build-your-own-six-pack" at local grocer. Small foamy head on a slightly cloudy amber body. Smell was nice at start, flowery with a caramel finish. Something else crept in towards the back. It was also the most prominent aspect of the taste, and I couldn't quite put my finger on it until I read the other (first) review here: rotten apples. I had it pegged as a very "liquor" smell, but the rotten apples is a much better definition. I couldn't get past it, just didn't work for me at all.

Brewers description: This one came to us in a dream and doesn't fit style guidelines at all. Essentially, it's a Pale Ale hopped with noble hops and fermented with a special Belgian strain of yeast. Rose hips and oak finish off this truly unique offering. Enjoy!

Presentation: 12 oz dark brown bottle with a black cap and a special release label featuring an image that I cannot place.

Appearance: bright light orange with a bubbly white skim.

Aroma: Cream of wheat, opium, funky/rotten apples, touches of oak.

Taste: lots of honey (I'm talking damn near mead like) and rotten apple. I feel like a bee sipping on apple blossom nectar while drinking this. Wild flowers. Mildly funky in a rotten, fermented fruit sort of way. Mildly hoppy finish, nearly saison like as hop bitterness is there but hop flavor really isn't. It's too covered by rotten fruit (and I do mean that in a relativity pleasant way). Touches of spice in the finish. Oaky throughout.

Mouthfeel: on the light side of medium bodied. Well carbonated. Ciderlike feel.

Drinkability: Great. I enjoy this beer a lot. The oak flavor is so subtle but really ads depth. I like the rotten qualities and just love the floral aspects. Cool beer.
