The brewery calls it a "Winter Warmer Spiced Ale" but it's in the American tradition of high-octane seriously spiced holiday beers. On tap at the brewery on Skid Row.
Dark reddish brown color with a nice white foam in the glass. Quite spritzy in the mouth with a powerful taste of alcohol. Quite sweet and spiced up. This is more of a Christmas pudding and pumpkin pie infusion. Flavors of raisins, dark rum, and fruitcake. Molasses and something like ginger. Quite a bitter finish inspite of all the sugar. Maybe it's my imagination but I taste the mineral flavors of Belgian yeast with just little of the drying sensation.
This is definitely a whoopee holiday brew whatever you call it. A few sips is enough, unless you're working on a slab of mincemeat pie with an avalanche of whipped cream.
