From the 275ml bottle in a snifter via a friend from across the pond---Cheers Keith!
This historic ale pours a dark copper color with a thin white head that appears and then
dissipates to a razor thin ring. Nose of sweet basil, thyme, rosemary, and sweet earthy
malts. Flavors expand on the nose which is a touch unfortunate with heavy rosemary
in all it's sticky glory awash in thyme and what tastes a lot like sweet herbal mint and
basil with some pale wheat malt thrown in. Light mouth feel; nil on the carbonation,
lightly coating with the herbal notes, and finishing lightly bitter from the aforementioned
herbal notes.
Overall, a unique ale to try for a reference point on "how the good ol' days were".
Truth be told it is an herb bomb with a hint of ale. Interesting but not my cup of ale.
Cheers
